This policy explains what personal information LevelUp Controllers collects, why we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep it short and honest.
1. Who we are
LevelUp Controllers (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates levelupcontrollers.co.za and provides controller repair and related services from 10 Hanepoot Crescent, Sonstraal, Durbanville, South Africa.
Privacy questions or POPIA requests: levelupcontrollers100@gmail.com · 061 647 5781 · contact page.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Identity & contact details — name, email address, phone / WhatsApp number, and messages you send.
- Service details — controller model, fault description, photos you share, booking preferences, and repair history for your job.
- Address details — drop-off or shipping addresses needed for mail-in and returns.
- Payment records — amounts paid, invoice references, and related transaction notes (card or bank details are handled by your payment method provider if used; we do not store full card numbers on this website).
- Website technical data — standard server or hosting logs (for example IP address, browser type, pages requested) and preferences stored in your browser such as theme (light/dark) via
localStorage.
We do not intentionally collect special-category personal information. Please do not send sensitive data that is unrelated to your repair.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and manage bookings, diagnostics, repairs, mods, and returns.
- Send updates about your job (including via WhatsApp, SMS, phone, or email).
- Process payments and keep business records required by law.
- Improve our website and services, and keep the site secure.
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
We process information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you, because you asked us to take steps before a contract, because we have a legitimate interest in running a repair business and website securely, or where you have consented (for example optional marketing, if we ever offer it).
4. Browser tools (WebHID)
Pages such as Check my board, Test inputs, and Calibrate sticks can talk to a USB controller in your browser. That communication happens locally on your device. We do not upload stick positions, board IDs, or calibration data from those tools to our servers as part of the tool itself. Your browser may still request device permission; that permission is controlled by your browser, not by a LevelUp account.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use essential browser storage for site preferences (for example remembering dark or light theme). We do not run advertising trackers on the site for our own ads. Embedded third-party content (see below) may set its own cookies when loaded.
6. Sharing with others
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us operate—for example website hosting (Netlify), email delivery, and couriers when shipping controllers.
- Messaging platforms you choose to contact us on (WhatsApp, email providers, phone networks)—their terms and privacy policies also apply.
- Professional advisers or authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.
Third-party services loaded by the site may include Google Fonts, map links to Google Maps, and TikTok or Facebook embeds/links when you view social content. Those providers process data under their own policies.
7. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above—typically for the life of your repair job and for a reasonable period afterward for warranty, accounting, and legal record-keeping. Contact-form and message records may be retained to continue a conversation or for service history. You can ask us to delete information where we are not required to keep it.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use strong passwords on your email and messaging accounts and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive data.
9. Your rights (POPIA)
If you are in South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) may give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. To exercise these rights, email levelupcontrollers100@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Children
Our services are aimed at adults or at minors acting with a parent or guardian’s involvement for booking and payment. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for marketing.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes may also be noted on the site or when you next contact us.
12. Related terms
Use of our repair services and website is also subject to our Terms of Service.
